Steve Fleming has a lifetime of experience working with, teaching, counseling, and helping people along their life journeys. Born in southern California, he grew up in Maryland. A graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park with honors in English, he received his Doctor of Ministry degree in 1976 from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia.
A long-term cancer survivor (acute myeloid leukemia 1983-1985), he has helped people young and old explore life and it’s meaning when serving for 21 years as assistant pastor, associate pastor, pastor, interim associate pastor, or pastor/head of staff of congregations in Virginia, Arkansas, Pennsylvania and Maryland.
In 1998, he joined one of the largest, non-profit Benefits and Retirement Plans in the World with over $6 billion in assets and more than 50,000 Plan members and dependents. He began his service as a Field Service Representative for Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and eastern Ohio. In 2002, he was chosen to help start a new Education Department to develop a wider set of on-site Seminars and Workshops for that non-profit’s Benefits Plan Members. He was responsible for the content of both the workbooks and presentations on several topics, including some of the most frequently presented topics Pre-Retirement Planning and Living in Retirement.
Steve has presented hundreds of live seminars and workshops across the USA to thousands of persons. This position also offered opportunities to present live webinars with hundreds of on-line participants, and develop and record a variety of e-learning seminars. A gifted public speaker, writer, and seminar leader, Steven has published articles in various national publications.
He holds Certificates from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP.org) in: Financial Planning Management; Benefits and Compensation Management; and Retirement Plans including coursework in Designing Retirement Education Programs. He also has completed the ASTD “Train the Trainer” course.
He is presently pursuing his dream to provide life coaching and mentoring both via the internet, e-learning seminars and workshops, and live presentations. He is open to hearing from those interested in these possibilities and perhaps being of service to you.
